In about twenty minutes you can have an AI agent answering customers on a real inbox. This article walks through the editor from a blank agent to a published one.
AI agents are included on every plan, including Free. Each answer uses AI Actions from your monthly allowance; you can buy more from the AI Actions page.

The Instructions box is the agent's job description. HueChat treats it as the authoritative source for role, behaviour, tone and policies.
Write in plain words:
The tip in the editor says it well: instead of "be helpful", write "Answer product questions using the knowledge base." An optional Greeting Message is used only for simple greetings; leave it blank to let the agent greet naturally.
Under Knowledge Sources use Add URL, Upload File or Add Text to give the agent your facts. See "How do I give my AI agent knowledge and keep its answers grounded?".
Under Inboxes, tick the inboxes this agent responds on. The agent auto-replies to incoming messages on those inboxes only.
Under Human Handoff, keep the toggle on and choose who receives handed-off conversations. Defaults work for most teams.
Under Test Agent, ask the questions your customers ask most. Test messages are free within the daily and monthly test limits and never reach a customer.
Choose Publish. Until then the agent is a Draft and does not answer customers. Save Draft keeps your changes without going live, and Unpublish takes a live agent offline. Every save creates an entry in Version History, so you can restore an earlier prompt.
