Appointments is HueChat's built-in booking system for clinics, salons, workshops and any business that books time. This article takes you from an empty calendar to a bookable one.
- A resource is the thing that gets booked: a doctor, a room, a stylist, a vehicle.
- A service is what the customer books: a consultation, a cleaning, a 45-minute treatment. A service has a duration, optional buffers before and after, a price and a description for the AI.
- Availability is the weekly schedule of each resource plus one-off closures.
- Open Appointments and choose Booking settings.
- Turn on Enable native booking. While it is on, any external booking integration on your AI agents is disabled.
- Set the Timezone and the Schedule interval (how finely times are offered, for example every 15 minutes).
- Set Minimum notice (minutes) so customers cannot book a slot starting in five minutes, Maximum advance (days) to limit how far ahead bookings go, and Cancellation notice (minutes).
- Choose the Resource label your team understands ("Doctor", "Stylist").
- Choose the Confirmation mode: Automatic confirmation confirms bookings immediately; Manual confirmation leaves them for your team to confirm.
- Choose the Default view (Day, Week, Month or List) and choose Save settings.

¶ 2. Resources and services
- Choose Manage resources and services.
- Under Resources, choose Add resource. Enter a name (for example "Dr. Sarah" or "Room 1"), a type, an optional description, timezone and colour. Under AI agents, leave the list empty to allow all agents to book this resource, or pick specific agents.
- Under Services, choose Add service. Enter the Service name, the AI description ("Explain what this service is for so the AI can offer it correctly"), Duration (minutes), Before and After buffers, price and Currency. Under Eligible resources, leave empty for all resources or pick the ones that can deliver this service.
Archive a resource or service you no longer offer; past bookings keep their history. Items with appointment history are protected from permanent deletion.
¶ 3. Availability and closures
- Choose Availability.
- With Recurring weekly hours selected, pick the resource, the Days, and the Start time and End time. Add a second range for a split shift (for example 9:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 21:00).
- Switch to One-off closure to block a date range, for example a public holiday or a training day, with an optional reason.
The calendar shows Available, Busy and Closed blocks per resource so you can check the result at a glance.

Switch between Day, Week, Month and List views and use Today and the period arrows. Filter by status with All statuses. If the calendar says there are no active resources, restore or add one from resource settings.
Team members need the appointments permission to view or change bookings; owners grant it in agent settings. Exact options may differ by plan.
